Prove the machine. Prove the polyurethane system. Do it on production equipment.

ESCO’s on-site laboratory and test facility lets you evaluate Edge-Sweets metering, mixing, and dispensing technology and run your polyurethane system on production machinery. The lab is how customers prove both the equipment and the chemistry before they commit to a cell.

That is a lab trial. It is a focused engagement: bring a system, run it on the right machine class, and leave knowing whether the process and the hardware belong together.

What a lab trial is for

  • See how ESCO low-pressure dynamic, filler-fed, high-pressure RIM, or elastomer equipment actually processes your system.
  • Confirm ratio, throughput, mix quality, and pour behavior on a production mix head — not a benchtop novelty.
  • Compare filled versus unfilled processing, or test an additive or blowing-agent change, before you buy or change a line.
  • Demonstrate a process to your own customers using a working ESCO cell.
  • Decide whether you need a lab-scale L-Series machine, a production cell, or an Applications Lab program.

How a trial runs

1. Tell us the system and the question

Share the chemistry family, target output, filled or unfilled, and what you need to prove — mix quality, ratio window, filler feed, shot size, or simply “will this run on an ESCO head?” We match you to the machine class in the lab.

2. Condition and run

Materials are staged on the selected equipment. We meter, mix, and dispense under production-like conditions. You are welcome on the floor.

3. Leave with an answer

You get a clear read: the system processes on this architecture, it needs a different head or feed method, or it is not ready. If the trial points to a full product launch — formulation through contract manufacturing and a handed-off cell — that work lives on the Applications Lab page. It is a separate ESCO offering.

L-Series - Laboratory-scale machines

When the trial shows you need development capacity of your own, ESCO L-Series dispensers put a small footprint and small-volume tanks under a full production-scale mix head. That is how material development, additive development, and product prototyping scale into production without changing the mixing principle.

Common applications: material development, additive development, product prototyping.

Commonly processed materials: flexible foam, rigid foam, blowing-agent development, cast elastomers, silicones.

Lab Trial or Applications Lab?

Use a lab trial when the question is equipment and process feasibility: will this system run, on which ESCO architecture, at what ratio and output.

Use the Applications Lab when the question is commercial: we have a PU part idea and we need a partner to formulate, develop the process, build the machine, run contract production, and hand us a working system.

A successful trial often becomes the first day of an Applications Lab program. They are not the same offer.
