Purchasing Manager

ESCO Group is a growing and entrepreneurial business that designs and builds machinery for the polyurethane industry. ESCO offers a broad range of foam fabrication machinery, cutting lines, engineered systems, PU meter, mix and dispensing machinery; specializing in low pressure dynamic mixing technology, filled systems, hydrophilic PU systems, as well as hot cast elastomer processing.

The successful candidate in this role will oversee the entire purchasing function in support of ESCOs operational goals and strategic objectives. As the Purchasing Manager, you will bring strong procurement acumen to the team, leverage technology resources, influence strategies, drive process improvement, enhance and solidify our vendor network, and optimize supply chain spend. This role reports to the Director of Operations.

The Purchasing Manager role is a full-time position based out of the Grand Rapids, Michigan location. The Purchasing Manager will have the following primary responsibilities while also recognizing the need to remain flexible and work independently with various individuals throughout the organization:

Purchasing Manager - Role Expectations / Responsibilities

  • Familiarize yourself with the Purchasing program at ESCO Group and assume the leadership role as it relates to the Purchasing function
  • Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and the Operations team to facilitate on-time deliveries via improved communication and visibility, vendor schedule management, and timely issue identification and resolution
  • Lead the vendor evaluation and qualification initiative to support current and long-term cost structure and capacity improvement
  • Hold our vendor partners accountable to support cost structure objectives
  • Support continual improvement activity within the purchasing function and throughout the entire supply chain

Requirements of the Position

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain or a related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in a similar capacity supporting an equipment manufacturer
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational, analytic, and problem-solving skills, and the capacity to think and work strategically
  • Adept at influencing and working with internal and external business partners
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset with process-driven focus
  • Able to lead, develop, influence, and manage a team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and demonstrated ability to leverage technology resources
